Unit Specifics:
• Number of Beds : 29
• Patient Ratios : 1:4
• Unit staffing description- (unit secretaries and tech availability): Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and PCTs
• Type of equipment : Alaris IV Pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, dinamap in each room, 3 Welch Allen Vital Machines, Wound Vacs, Temporary Pacemakers, Telemetry monitor, EKG Machine, Bladder Scanner, Doppler, Imobile for communication between team members
• Documentation system: Meditech
• Scheduling requirements: Must work full time hours including 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period.
• Floating policy: Contract Nurses will be floated to any area where they have demonstrated competency.
• Patient Experience requirements: Must align with our patient experience goals by treating every patient with courtesy and respect and to be responsive to the call light (using patients preferred name, making personal connections, involving the patient in bedside shift report, teaching the patient how to use the phone to call nurse directly, and to always ask if there is anything else you can do before leaving the room).
Hiring profile
Requested Skill Set:
Must have: Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU experience. Read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips.
Advanced skills needed: Must have experience with post cardiac procedural care (Ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Post Op Day 1 Open Heart, permanent Pacemaker placements). Must be able to administer and titrate IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone.
Procedures performed on unit: IV insertions, NGT placement and maintenance, Chest Tube maintenance, Temporary Pacemakers, Foley insertions
Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Dress Code: (Required uniform)
• Navy Blue scrubs. May wear black scrub pants with Navy Blue top.
