Licensed Practical Nurse - LPN
Job Description
Position: LPN/LVN - Med Surg
Location: Richmond, VA
Pay Rate:- $39/hour
Shift: Nights( 7AM-7PM)
Duration: 13 weeks
- Level of Care: Medical Surgical, Telemetry
- Number of Beds - 34 beds (private)
- Number of Staff – 50
- Type of staff: Day Shift – 1 charge, 6 RNs, 3 Techs, 1 DA
- Night Shift - 1 charge, 3 RNs, 3 techs 7p-11p, 1 tech 11p-7a
- Patient Ratios – 5-6:1
- Type of equipment – telemetry (bedside monitors), vein finder, bladder scanner, EKG machine, Doppler, Hoyer Lift, glucometer, pulse ox, scales, wound vac
- EMR - Meditech
Preferred or nice to have: candidates with these skills will be considered first.
- Trauma experience
- Telemetry experience
- Medical Surgical Experience, BLS, LPN License
Specialized aspects of care on unit / management of:
- Complex wounds
- Administration of blood products
- Pain management
- Tubes & drains – NG, PEG, feeding tubes, surgical drains
- Chest tubs

Education
1) High School diploma or equivalent required.
2) Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing
Experience
1) One year of medical office and patient care experience preferred.
2) EMR Used: Meditech
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1) Knowledge of medical practice and patient care, medical equipment and instruments and examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
2) Knowledge of physician office procedures and medical terminology.
3) Basic knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
4) Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.
5) Ability to assist in performing a variety of treatments and procedures, taking vital signs and recording and maintaining test results.
6) Ability to record data accurately using a computer.
7) Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
1) Virginia Practical Nursing License (LPN)
2) BLS certification required.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor patients throughout their treatment.
- Perform routine checks of patients' vital signs.
- Ensure that patients take their medication.
- Assist doctors and registered nurses.
- Liaise with patients' families
Requirements:
- Active LPN license.
