- Position: RN:ER (Emergency Room)
- Location: Gig Harbor, WA 98335
- Pay Rate: $65-$66/hr
- Shift: Nights(10-12 hour shifts, priority is night coverage with variable day and evening shifts)
- Work Week: 36 hours per week
- Gross weekly: $2,375 /week
- Duration: 13 weeks

Unit Notes
- ***This is not a hospital based position; the transfer center is located in a medical building in Gig Harbor in the command center for VMFH.***
- *** ICU or ER experience required ***
- Unit Transfer Center RN
- # cases RN will facilitate transfers among 8 hospital system servicing a large catchment area throughout Washington and Oregon.
- Will facilitate transfers from other states and internationally as required.
- Required Certifications: N/A - not patient facing
- Common duties/ responsibilities Facilitate transfers (any patient type) from hospitals
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: - MUST have ICU or ER experience. Previous transfer center experience preferred. - Must be professional, have good customer service skills, be able to learn quickly, ability to multitask, be strong in computers. - MUST have strong critical thinking and critical care assessment skills, good clinical judgement, ability to communicate and develop relationships with providers.
- Will they be responsible for arranging transfers? Facilitate transfers- get the acceptance of the physician to take the patient
- Job Responsibilities:
- Keeps abreast of bed demand/availability/status information on a regional basis in order to ensure patients are placed in the appropriate bed at the right time and to facilitate bed turnaround time.
- Identifies anticipated patient admissions/transfers/discharges and ascertains potential bed availability on a regional basis; maintains ongoing communication with the Emergency Departments and other requesting units to identify shifting priorities/needs for beds.
- Gathers clinical information to clarify clinical acuity and other relevant information bearing on bed and/or hospital placement that is consistent with criteria for the patient’s needs.
- Assesses patient acuity within limitations of RN licensure and determines whether tertiary services are appropriate.
- Determines the “best fit” CHI-FH hospital and/or unit to provide the best level of care and searches for available bed.
- Analyzes changes and makes plans for new bed assignments (in consultation with nursing staff) based on factors such as clinical diagnosis, patient status, risk assessment and availability.
- Participates in daily briefings to exchange information and discuss matters relating to bed management.
- Establishes and maintains a running list of patients at home awaiting a bed assignment; notifies patient and physician when bed is available and communicates all pertinent data

- Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 10-12 hour shifts, priority is night coverage with variable day and evening shifts

- Unit/Department specific orientation How many days of transfer center orientation will be provided? Will be rapid orientation, so a quick learner is essential for success.

Must Have :
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: - MUST have ICU or ER experience.
- Previous transfer center experience preferred. -

- MUST have strong critical thinking and critical care assessment skills,
- Good clinical judgement
- Ability to communicate and develop relationships with providers.
- Active RN license of WA State or Compact.
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
