Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired- Contract

Location: Federal Way, WA

Pay scale: Upto $40 hourly

Shift: 8am - 4pm

Responsibilities:

• Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each visually impaired student.
• Providing direct and specialized instruction in various subjects, adapting materials and methods to accommodate visual impairments.
• Utilizing assistive technologies and tools to enhance learning experiences and accessibility.
• Collaborating with classroom teachers, therapists, and parents/guardians to ensure a cohesive and holistic approach to education.
• Conducting assessments and progress monitoring to track students' academic and developmental growth.
• Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and engagement.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
• Certification in Teaching for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with students who are visually impaired or blind, and a solid understanding of their unique learning needs.
• Familiarity with braille and other tactile learning methods.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
