Job Description

Department: Emergency Room (RN) *Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC* NO CLINICAL INVOLVEMENT FIT TESTING / FACIAL HAIR- Please note, if a clinician for this facility has facial hair, they will be required to pass the either the Primary or Secondary fit test (3M Aura 1860 sm or reg/3M 1870+). If unable to pass - A Portacount test would be required, which CANNOT be completed on clinicians with facial hair & PAPR CANNOT be completed on site solely due to failing because of facial hair - contract would be canceled if facial hair cannot be removed. - Trauma Level? STEMI Receiving? Stroke Center?: Critical Access. ASRH designation by State of North Dakota and Level 4 trauma certification by state of ND - # of Beds/Trauma Bays: 14 regular beds, 2 large trauma bays - Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:3-5 depending on assignment - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Pediatrics through geriatrics. All typical Emergency Dept presentations. - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes - Are there nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters on each shift? Ratios? Duties?: 1 CNA that functions as a ward clerk and CNA - Do you have Tele/Monitor Techs in the ER? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the Tele monitors?: RNs must be able to read and interpret - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 7a-7p, 10a-10p, 7p-7a // self scheduling, Manager typically does scheduling for travelers. - Weekend Requirements: Will fill in where there is a need - Holiday Requirements: Will fill in where there is a need - Floating Requirements: Do not typically float, but could be asked to assist on MSP and ICU - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 3- 12 hour shifts - Additional Notes: Attributes that help a nurse be successful in this unit include motivated, self starter, committed to excellence, strong commitment to patient satisfaction Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions. Updated: 1/25/24
