Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing the operating room: Setting up the operating room to ensure a safe and sterile environment for the surgical team
- Preparing patients: Washing and disinfecting incision sites, positioning patients on the operating table, and covering them with sterile drapes
- Assisting during surgery: Passing instruments, sutures, medications, and retractors to the surgeon, holding extremities, and suctioning wounds
- Maintaining a sterile environment: Monitoring the surgical team's aseptic techniques, reporting and correcting breaks in sterile technique, and controlling the location of contaminated supplies and instruments
- Postoperative care: Helping to provide care for patients recovering from surgery
- Stocking and tracking supplies: Ensuring there are adequate supplies for surgery, tracking surgical supplies, and restocking the room with necessary equipment
- Decontamination: Assisting with the decontamination of equipment, instruments, and supplies
- Cleaning: Cleaning rooms, furniture, and equipment according to established procedures
- Recognizing emergencies: Recognizing and reporting emergency situations
- Staying up to date: Staying up to date on surgical technology, medical terminology, and procedures
- Working with the surgical team: Working well with surgeons, surgical assistants, nurses, and the general surgical team
Qualifications:
- Current Surgical Tech certification in California (don’t leave home without it!).
- Hospital experience is a plus, but we’re happy to train enthusiastic Surgical Tech who love to learn.
- Excellent communication skills—extra points if you can throw in a great dad joke!
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (but don’t worry, no capes required).

Job Types: Contract
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour (plus, we promise it’ll come with good vibes!)
Expected hours: 36 per week (with coffee breaks, snack breaks, and, well, more breaks!)
