Job Description
**May 21st Start Date ONLY** - Unit: Amb/GI lab - this unit is a hybrid ambulatory care center - # beds: 5 - Phase 1 and Phase 2: GI nurses pre/post the moderate sedation patients -How many cases per day- No do not have GI cases every day. mainly Tuesdays/Thursdays not usually more than 10 - Certs: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Moderate Sedation - Ratios: 4 to 1, 3 to 1 for phase 2 recovery -This is a hybrid position. Mostly they will pre and post the GI patients as well as moderate sedation during the procedures. Pre Admission Testing and PreOp OR patients - EMR: Cerner Power Chart - Surginet - Charge Nurse: yes - they will take a pt assignment - Nurse Aides: No - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, could be more or less - Holidays: they will take 24 hour call - Call requirement: week day - requirement is variable based on needs of unit (hours are 2:30pm - 5:30am) - weekend call requirement depends on regular schedule - 48 hours (once per month generally, could be more) hours are Saturday 7am- Monday 5:30am - Scrub Color: provided - Tele: GE - Vents: No - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes - IV Team: No - RT 24/7: Yes - Pharmacy 24/7: No staffed from 7am- midnight, omnicell for after hours - Shifts: 8 hr shifts - 5:30am-2pm, 9-5:30pm, 10:30am-6pm, 11a-7p (must be flexible with shifts) will work all of them, based on cases - Floating: ambulatory care and GI - Floor specific orientation: varies, 2-3 shifts on average -Required Duties-perform moderate sedation during the GI cases; -Must Have Skills-1 years experience with Moderate sedation is primary. ERCP experience is preferred but not mandated, Okay with 1st time Travelers - Common types of cases to recover: GI - upper and lower GI Peg tubes, these patients come through from PACU, they also do ERCP's but they are done in main OR (will use GI staff for these)they have to have experience with ERCP, blood transfusion, and other various special procedures like paracentesis - Additional Notes: Travelers will have to cover, pre-op, admission testing, etc. in addition to these areas, moderate sedation experience is required,
