Job Description: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) / Surgical Tech

Location: Brattleboro, VT 05301

Job Type: Permanent

Shifts: 8-hour or 10-hour shifts (Full-time)

Salary: Median $29/hour (dependent upon experience)

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our team in Brattleboro, VT. The ideal candidate will be a crucial part of the surgical team, assisting in a variety of surgical procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Preoperative Duties:

  • Prepare operating rooms for surgeries by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready.
  • Arrange surgical instruments and supplies for easy access during procedures.
  • Verify patient information, surgical site, and ensure all necessary documents and consent forms are complete.

• Intraoperative Duties:

  • Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies, maintaining a sterile environment, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
  • Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment.
  • Handle specimens taken for laboratory analysis.

• Postoperative Duties:

  • Apply dressings to surgical sites and assist in transferring patients to recovery rooms.
  • Clean and restock the operating room for the next procedure.
  • Ensure proper disposal of biohazard materials and adherence to infection control protocols.

• General Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with surgical techniques and technologies.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide the best patient care.

Qualifications:

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential is required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Previous experience as a surgical technologist preferred.
• Knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques.
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
