Location: Red Bluff, CA, 96080
Start Date: ASAP – because Med-Surg heroes can’t wait to make an impact.
Employment Type: Full-Time / Travel / Contract
Shift: 12-hour Night Shifts (7 PM–7 AM)

This fast-paced Med-Surg unit caters to both adult and pediatric patients, blending compassionate care with top-notch teamwork. Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care Excellence: Manage up to 5 patients with diverse diagnoses such as COPD, GI bleeds, post-op recovery, OBGYN surgeries, and ortho.
- Pediatric Experience Preferred: Work with pediatric patients as part of a blended unit. (Travelers without pediatric experience will not handle pediatric cases.)
- Team Collaboration: Work alongside RNs, nurse aides, and other healthcare providers to deliver outstanding care.
- Adaptability: Be ready to handle high patient turnover in this fast-paced environment.
Unit Details:
- Unit Type: Medical-Surgical, with pediatric cases.
- Size: 45 beds (adult and pediatric Med-Surg combined).
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5.
- Technology: Cerner EMR system for efficient charting.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month.
- Orientation: 2–3 days, including a fun scavenger hunt to familiarize yourself with the unit.
Required Qualifications:
- Certifications: BLS required; PALS preferred.
- Experience: 2–3 years in Med-Surg; pediatric experience is a big plus.
- Licensing: Active RN license (state-specific or compact).
- Special Skills: Experience with protonix and heparin drips is a bonus.
Schedule & Shift Notes:
- Shift Length: 12 hours (nights).
- Self-Scheduling: Yes, with schedules finalized 30–45 days in advance.
- Floating: Not required, but optional to tele or OB units for experienced candidates.

- Pediatric Cases: (For qualified RNs only).
- Pace: Average patient length of stay is 3 days, with high turnover.
Additional Notes:
- Must be ready to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and adaptability are key to thriving on this unit.
- If you’re a traveler, previous experience in larger, high-traffic facilities is preferred.
