Registered Respiratory Therapist (Part-Time, 36 Hours, Varied Shifts)
Job Description
About UsFounded in 1859 by Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, The Queen’s Medical Center, originally named and still commonly referred to as Queen’s Hospital, is located in downtown Honolulu. With 575 acute care beds, it’s the largest private, nonprofit hospital in the city. Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs) are vital members of the Respiratory Care team, offering a unique skills set in the diagnosis, intervention, and management of patients with respiratory diseases and disorders. Our providers serve patients across all areas of the hospital, responding to emergent calls to manage life support equipment for patients who can’t breathe on their own. RCPs educate patients and families about lung disease so they can maximize their recovery. The Respiratory Care Services team at The Queen’s Medical Center offers services to provide the highest quality of care to patients with breathing problems. Our staff of skilled therapists serve a diverse population of patients and are supported by the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment available. Awards & Recognitions The Queen’s Medical Center was named the #1 hospital in Hawai‘i in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-2025 Best Hospitals rankings. This marks the 12th straight year that Queen’s has earned the top spot. The annual Best Hospitals report is designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about choosing the right hospital for them. Queen’s was rated as “High Performing” in diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, geriatrics, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, lung surgery, and urology. The Queen’s Medical Center has been reverified as a Level I Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons through August 2025. As the state’s designated trauma center, Queen’s plays a vital role in the State Trauma System and provides the highest level of patient care across the injury continuum from prevention through rehabilitation.
