Job Summary

We are seeking a Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to join our team in Northridge, CA. As an SPT, you will be responsible for decontaminating, sterilizing, and maintaining medical instruments and equipment used in a variety of healthcare procedures. The ideal candidate will ensure that all instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, and ready for use, ensuring patient safety and supporting the overall efficiency of the healthcare team. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Decontaminate and clean surgical instruments and medical equipment following established infection control and safety protocols.
  • Sterilize medical instruments using autoclaves, sterilizers, and other specialized equipment to ensure they meet sterilization standards.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and damage, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Assemble and organize instrument trays and surgical kits in preparation for medical procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control standards and sterilization procedures to maintain patient safety.
  • Maintain records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and other relevant logs as required by facility policies.
  • Collaborate with surgical and healthcare teams to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of sterile instruments for procedures.
  • Monitor and track inventory levels of sterilization supplies, notifying management of any shortages.
  • Adhere to all hospital and regulatory policies for handling hazardous materials and infection control procedures.

Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with sterilization techniques, decontamination procedures, and infection control protocols.
  • Experience working in a hospital or surgical setting is preferred.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT) preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols and proper handling of medical instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items, as well as stand for extended periods.

Travel Housing Rate

For travelers, housing costs in the Northridge, CA area typically range from $2,000 to $2,800 per month for shared apartments or houses, with affordable options available during your assignment. Travel stipends are provided for eligible candidates.
