Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse for our Emergency Room (ER) in Bakersfield, CA. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, efficient nursing care to patients experiencing a range of medical emergencies, including trauma, cardiac events, and respiratory distress. This role requires strong critical thinking skills, the ability to perform under pressure, and a commitment to delivering compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Emergency Care: Provide rapid assessment, triage, and intervention for patients presenting with a variety of emergency conditions, from trauma to medical crises.
- Patient Monitoring: Continuously monitor patient vital signs, conditions, and responses to treatments and interventions in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting.
- Collaboration: Work closely with ER physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care and implement treatment plans.
- Administer Medications: Administer IV medications, pain management, and other treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on care plans, treatment procedures, and follow-up care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient conditions, treatments, and progress using electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or Meditech.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols, patient safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Critical Care Support: Provide emergency support for patients requiring advanced care, including life-saving interventions in cases of cardiac arrest, stroke, or severe trauma.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Room nursing or other critical care settings (e.g., ICU, Trauma, or Acute Care).
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient needs in a high-stress environment.
- Experience with advanced life support techniques and emergency care procedures, including trauma care and resuscitation.
- Active CA State RN license required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certifications preferred.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and provide high-quality care in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
