Unit managers will make the final call on scheduling, but we would include this verbiage on the confirmation. **Holiday time off will be considered, however not guaranteed** Med Sol prescreens, offer off clinical prescreens & manager has 24 hours to review and rescind, if necessary---- ***COMMON SPIRIT SAC REGION FACILITY-WIDE ORIENTATION IS IN SACRAMENTO - NOT GRASS VALLEY!!*** - Unit: Family Birthing Center Need L&D RN that can also function as a Transition RN to NICU, transition RN info below. As a Transition Registered Nurse (RN) in Newborn Nursery, you will coordinate and provide direct patient care. You will attend deliveries to advocate for the needs of newborns after delivery, assess and assist in safe extrauterine life adjustments of the newborn, monitor the stability of the newborn, and assess any anomalies or signs of distress. You will complete initial head-to-toe assessment, medication administration, and any ongoing assessments of the newborn and mother during the two-hour transition period. You will assign initial Apgars and facilitate skin-to-skin bonding for a minimum of 1 hour. You will assist with breastfeeding or feeding choices during the first hour and beyond prior to moving to Family Birth Center. You will assess and reassess the newborn(s) respiratory and airway support using neonatal resuscitation program guidelines, thermoregulation, and metabolic stability as appropriate. You will administer medications and urine/meconium collection as needed, as well as, blood glucose and Sa02 monitoring, lab work. - # beds: L&D - 4, MB - 8 - Certs: BLS, ACLS, NRP and Advanced Fetal Monitoring are required. At least 2 year of L&D experience. - Ratios: L&D - 1:2, 1:1 active delivery. MB - 1:4 (couplets) - EMR: Cerner - Charge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief. - Nurse Aides: No - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend. Nights - Fri, Sat, Sun. Days - Sat, Sun. - Holidays Rotate in with core staff - Scrub Color: Provided - Tele: No - Vents: No - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: During the day. OB on-call, Anesthesia on-call at night. - IV Team : No - RT 24/7 : Yes - Pharmacy 24/7: No, 0630-2200. On-call Pharmacist for orders and remote -Pharmacy for deliveries if needed. - Shifts: 12 hr shifts 1845-0715. Schedules are posted 6 weeks in advance. No self-scheduling. Report is at the bedside. Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves 'available' for extra shifts and make trades with other staff. Block scheduling is generally not available. - Floating: No - Responsible for L&D or MB. - Floor specific orientation: 2 - 3 days on the floor with preceptor. - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: 45 deliveries/month. Standard L&D, term, preterm, couplets. No high risk. Transfer mothers 34 weeks and below. Newborns on IV antibiotics and/or short term O2. General GYN patients as well. 2 RNs and 1 RT during every delivery. - Additional Notes: Closest sister hospital is San Juan 1hr away. - Additional Questions: Must be strong in an emergency and able to work independently. Not as many resources available at night.
