Job Title: Permanent Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
Location: Ashtabula, OH
Shift: Days, 8-hour shifts
Hourly Salary: Starting at $18.00 per hour (increases based on experience)
Annual Salary: $37,440
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to join our healthcare team in Ashtabula, OH. The SPT is responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained, playing a crucial role in patient safety and infection control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instrument Cleaning and Sterilization:
- Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment following established protocols.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality, ensuring that all tools are in proper working condition.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels of sterile supplies and equipment, ensuring that all necessary items are available for procedures.
- Restock sterile processing areas and maintain an organized work environment.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with surgical staff and other healthcare professionals to support efficient and effective patient care.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding instrument needs and any issues that arise.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in sterile processing or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
