Executive Leadership- Lab Manager

Job Description

  • Position:  Executive Leadership-Medical Lab Manager
  • Location: Bismarck, ND, 58501
  • Pay Rate: $74/hr
  • Shift: Days(Mon-Fri 0800-1630)
  • Work Week: 40 hours per week
  • Gross weekly: $2,972/week
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Start:  ASAP
  • Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.

Unit Notes:

  • Department: Lab Manager
  • *Certs required: MLS/MT through ASCP*
  • NO CLINICAL INVOLVEMENT
  • Certs: Do they need BLS (will they have contact w/ patients?): Do not need BLS- will not have contact with patients. MLS through ASCP.
  • Education: Do you require an associates degree or bachelors degree?: No degree required just MLS certification
  • Specific Job Duties Related to this role?: Responsible for the HR functions of the areas overseen. Will not be working in the lab performing testing.
  • Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have 5-10 years experience as a supervisor or manager in any lab setting. Histo/direct point of care experience is preferred but not required
  • What areas will the be overseeing?: Responsible for histology, point of care in the hospital/clinic settings, and the phlebotomy team
  • Number of employees supervised?: 25 FTE that is made up of about 40 staff members
  • Is there a supervisor or lead on each shift?: Lead
  • Do you staff lab assistants?: No
  • LIS System (ie. Polytech, Avalon, Orchard Software, Apollo, Prolis, BioTracer, etc.): Soft Lab and Path Lab
  • EMR/Specific Equipment used in each area?: EPIC
  • Shifts & Scheduling: Mon-Fri 0800-1630
  • Weekend Requirements: None
  • Holiday Requirements : None
  • Is there a call or standby requirement?: None
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Business casual, no scrub color requirement if they do want to wear scrubs
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 weeks
  • Top 3 Goals/Objectives for this leader: Stabilize the point of care area, interface with the pathologists with histology work area, assist phlebotomy lead with all the HR issues
  • Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
  • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions. Entered On: 1/12/2024

Requirements:

  • MLS/MT through ASCP
  • Must have 5-10 years experience as a supervisor or manager in any lab setting. Histo/direct point of care experience is preferred but not required
  • Do not need BLS.
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) via ASCP Verification.
  • Knowledge of laboratory information systems and data management.
